Do You Need A Log Splitter?

Today’s Bible readings are Exodus 21:22-23:13, Matthew 24:1-28, Psalm 29:1-11, Proverbs 7:6-23

Psalm 29:4-5
The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord splits the mighty cedars; the Lord shatters the cedars of Lebanon.

Many of you have heard me say this before, & I’m sure you will hear me say it again—“One word from God will change your life.” There is nothing more powerful than the voice of God. It was the voice of that caused light to appear where it had never existed before. It was the voice of God that caused stars to appear. It was the voice of God that told water where it could go & where it had to stop. God’s voice carries creative power.

What a picture we have here of how incredible the voice of God is. His voice splits the cedars. The cedars of Lebanon were the strongest & most impressive cedars of the land. They were towering & very durable. Yet, the psalmist shows us that they can’t stand under the power of the breathe of Almighty God. PRAISE GOD!!!

I know that there are things that are standing in your path. Many times they are huge & even intimidating. Yet, I encourage you today that they can’t stand under the power of God’s powerful voice. His voice still has the power to split even the strongest of trees.

·        You know that unforgiveness in your heart—Split by the power of His voice telling you to love the way He loves.
·        You know that fear that things are not going to change—Split by the power of His voice telling you to trust in Him.
·        You know that worry that keeps you up at night—Split by the power of His voice telling you He is your hope.
·        You know that pain in your body that isn’t getting better—Split by the power of His voice telling you that you are healed by His stripes.

  • His voice makes mountains moves.

Psalm 29:6

He makes Lebanon’s mountains skip like a calf; he makes Mount Hermon leap like a young wild ox.

Look at the power that our God has. There is none like Him. Let this sink in your heart today. His voice changes things. That is why it is so important for us to tune our ear into His voice. There are many voices that influence us. We listen to the voices like these:
1.      The voice of doubt
2.      The voice of fear
3.      The voice of offense
4.      The voice of past
5.      The voice of shame

These all speak lies to us that ultimately defeat us & keep us from moving forward. They say things like:
1.      You can’t.
2.      That will destroy you.
3.      They don’t care about you.
4.      Remember what happened last time?
5.      You are not worth it.

How can we ever expect to succeed with this playing in our head? This only produces bondage in our lives. The one thing that can clear the path of all these destructive lies is the voice of TRUTH! As God speaks His TRUTH over you it splits the cedars & moves the mountains that have kept us contained.

His voice is the key to us finding freedom. His voice is the source to more strength. His voice will lead us to greater increase. What must we do to position ourselves to hear from God more accurately?

1.      Listen more.

Jesus is always trying to talk to us, we just fail to listen. We have so many other things flying through our mind & ears at all times. It may also be that we aren’t familiar to the Lords voice because we are so use to the voices that are bringing defeat into our lives.

John 10:4-5

After he has gathered his own flock, he walks ahead of them, and they follow him because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger; they will run from him because they don’t know his voice.”

2.      Obey what He tells you to do.

In my life, there have been seasons when I wasn’t in tune with the Master’s voice. I have noticed that it usually has to do with me not following what He last told me to do. This is a very important point to look at. If we don’t follow the last direction He is not going to change what He has told us to do. So my advice—Listen & obey.

3.      Put yourself in a position where you can hear from Him.

Go to church, read the bible, pray, spend time in quiet meditation listening, these things create a culture that is conducive to His voice ministering to us. I like to get away & worship in a quiet place. I also like to work with my hands while I talk to God & listen for His reply.

I guess what I’m trying to say is just get busy listening for His powerful voice. He is speaking. He wants to change your life & the lives of those around you. His voice has the power to do it. Find what works for you & get busy doing it with all your might. It is time for some cedars to split & mountains to skip out of your path. His voice is the ticket to bringing this to pass.
