JANUARY 5

"Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them..."Matthew 5:1

Jesus still wants to teach us today! Do we have a mountain of our own that seems to hard to climb? Do we have people in our lives that are hard to understand? Are we going through a time of financial or spiritual poverty? The scripture in today's reading will help you to see the plan of God for you in these situations. Go now to that mountainside where he is waiting to teach you something new today! Delight in his presence~

today's reading: Matthew chapter 5 verses 1 through 26

vs. 3-10 Help me Lord, to see the poor.
Help me to see those who are grieving.
Help me to see the meek and those with hungry hearts.
Help me to really SEE the way you see people who are in need.
I desire to be salt and light. Help me to refuse every opportunity to go down the path of foolish anger, but to be the first to make amends.

Sometimes it seems really hard to do things God's way because in today's world the message is all about staying ahead of everyone else in every way.
We have to put the will of God first in our lives and DETERMINE to do things HIS way. If we will just let HIM, God will show us that He will help us through every situation and will bless our lives because we have let go of our own will and taken hold of HIS will!
When we do things HIS way, our own faith and trust in the Lord will grow beyond what we thought possible~

January 4, 2013

Matthew 4:16 "The people living in darkness have seen a great light;on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned."

Today's scripture is Matthew 4:12-25

Things to think about:
  1. verse 20, AT ONCE they left their nets and followed Him.
  2. verse 22, IMMEDIATELY they left the boat and their father and followed Him.
Help me, Lord, to have an "AT ONCE" and "IMMEDIATELY" attitude and action.

Help me to leave behind the "okay" things in my life, and choose the BEST things.

Help me to realize that you have chosen me and asked ME to follow you!

Help me to choose your plan for me and to understand that your plan means LIFE; abundant, full, interesting, exciting LIFE!

January 3, 2013

OK so this is my first blogging attempt. I hope it will be a blessing to those of you who are going with us on the journey to read the New Testament in one year!
These messages are the dream child of Linda Mulliken from First Pentecostal Assembly of God and she is doing most of the writing as the Lord leads her.
I know this will bless you in your everyday life! And what a great goal it is to be in the Word everyday.
Here is how it will work. Each day I will post scripture for you to look up in your bible. There will also be a little bit of reading for you on this blog, as I said, mostly written by Linda.
If you want to share from your own meditation and study for that day, please do! This should be a great starting point for us to get deeper into the messages that the Lord has given us.
So let's enjoy this year in the Word of God together!

Your reading for January 3: Matthew 3: 7 through 4:11.

chapter 3 verse 8: Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.
               How do I live that?
chapter 4 verse 4: Live on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Is the Word of God your measuring stick for your words, thoughts, actions and attitudes?
chapter 4 verse 7: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.
Do I live as close to "the line" as possible? Do I occasionally put my pinkie finger just
a tiny bit over "the line"?
chapter 4 verse 10: Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.
Help me to identify my own idols. Some may be well-hidden and yet have made
a fortress   in my soul. Some may be very easy to see and not hidden at all, yet
I haven't thought of them as idols before. Help me to see with your eyes, Lord.

January 2, 2013 today's reading: Matthew 2:13-3:6 Prepare the way for the Lord. Make straight paths for him. Matt 3:3 How would God have me prepare my heart this year? I need to repent, to turn around. How do I do that? What markers, (reminders) will I use to keep my heart and lifestyle changed so that He will have a clear path, with room to make me like Him? Help me today, Lord.
