Today’s
Bible Reading:
Deuteronomy
16:1-17:20, Luke 9:7-27, Psalm 72:1-20, Proverbs 12:8-9
Revelations 1:5-6 And
from Jesus Christ, who is the
faithful witness, and the first
begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that
loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood, And
hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and
ever. Amen.
Deuteronomy 17:15-20 Thou shalt in any
wise set him king over thee,
whom the LORD thy God shall choose: one
from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a
stranger over thee, which is
not thy brother.
16 But he shall not multiply horses to
himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should
multiply horses: forasmuch as the LORD hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth
return no more that way.
17 Neither shall he multiply wives to
himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to
himself silver and gold.
18 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon
the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book
out of that which is before the
priests the Levites:
19 And it shall be
with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn
to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes,
to do them:
20 That his heart be
not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the
commandment, to the right hand,
or to the left: to the end that
he may prolong his days in his
kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
2Peter
2:20-22 For
if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of
the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and
overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. For it had been better for them not to have
known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment
delivered unto them. But it is happened
unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to
her wallowing in the mire.
When you read about
King Solomon you will see how he did not obey these warnings that God gave his
father King David about Horses, Wives and Silver & Gold. He was the most wealthy king in all of
history. God was warning Solomon and us
too, not to return to bondage. King
Solomon was led astray with idolatry, sensuality and following other pagan
religions:
Exodus
34:12-16 Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a
covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a
snare in the midst of thee: But ye shall
destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves: For thou shalt worship no other god: for the
LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: Lest thou make a covenant with the
inhabitants of the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and do
sacrifice unto their gods, and one
call thee, and thou eat of his sacrifice;
And thou take of their daughters unto thy sons, and their daughters go a
whoring after their gods, and make thy sons go a whoring after their gods.
So we need to be
diligent not to let the enemy to get a foot in the door because we can see
especially in today’s society what he can do to people when they “return to
their own vomit”.
Deuteronomy
17:18-20 And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the
throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out
of that which is before the
priests the Levites: And it shall be
with him, and he shall read therein all
the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the LORD his God, to keep all the words of this law and these
statutes, to do them: That
his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside
from the commandment, to the
right hand, or to the left: to
the end that he may prolong his
days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel.
God’s Word Never
Fails! When you study it every day, and
Do The Word, you humble yourself and you, and your children will be blessed
beyond measure.
James
1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of
liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer,
but a doer of the work, this man
shall be blessed in his deed.
Do The Word! They are Hungry!
